Factors of Varying Car Insurance Rates

By

As we all know there are a variety of factors when it comes to the insurance rates that we get on our cars. I think the main factors for this are location, coverage, record, age and gender. First variable that actually makes a big difference is the location in which the driver has to get the insurance. I have been insured at almost identical times in my life in two different states, Massachusetts and Washington. With almost identical coverage I have got two completely difference pricing on my rates. Being insured in Washington I found insurance for 40 dollars a month. In Massachusetts the minimum I was able to find was around 112 dollars a month, almost 3 times as much as the Washington insurance. I can only assume that this is the same for other states as well. If you are in Texas you are going to get many different rates across the country and outside of the country you are sure to get a variety of different rates.
Another factor that has a big impact on your rates is your driving record. If you have a couple DUI's and speeding tickets you can be sure that you are going to be paying a great deal more than your friends who have had a spotless record for the last 10 years. The thing with these big penalties is that you do not just have to pay for the $3000 DUI fine and attorney fees you are also going to have to pay for your increase in insurance rates for at least the next 10 years.
Another big factor in your insurance rate is amount of coverage that you are getting. This kind of goes without saying but is worth mentioning. Depending on how big your deductible is and the amount of damages you are insured for is going to make a big difference in the total cost of your car. Also another big factor in this is going to be the type of car that you are going to be insuring. There is obviously going to be a big difference between insuring a 1992 Camry that is worth 2000 dollars and a 2011 Ferrari that is worth 200,000 dollars.
The last things that go into the cost of car insurance are the age and gender of the driver. Like it or not if you a 16 year old male you are going to be paying a lot more than a 65 year old female, unless of course the 65 year old female was just given 3 DUI offenses. You can like this or hate this but the truth is that this there is a lot of data that says that if you are a 16 year old male there is a much higher chance that you are going to cause damage to your car. I think that this is one of the smallest factors and the other factors are going to greatly impact the cost of insurance for you and your motor vehicle.

Factors Involved In Choosing Car Insurance

By

Choosing the right car insurance company can be quite a burden to an unprepared individual. There are tons of companies to choose from, all of which have many positives and negatives. Car insurance is a legal requirement for any person who chooses to drive, or even own a car. Since it is a legal requirement, it is almost mind boggling how many differences exist between insurance companies. Customer satisfaction, price, and many other factors should play a part in what insurance company a person chooses.
How does a person choose the correct car insurance company for them? There are many factors to consider before a person ever commits to an insurance company. Most importantly, is cost. How much does a policy cost? The cost can vary wildly depending on many factors. Some factors, such as the age of the driver, the number of cars insured, and the models and types of cars insured, heavily influence the cost of insurance. Obviously, younger drivers are typically considered a little more carefree and a little less responsible, so they typically pay more. The model year, type, and condition of the vehicle can greatly affect the cost of insurance as well. A late model, sportier car will cost quite a bit more to insure than an older family sedan.
In addition to cost, customer service is very important when choosing an automobile insurance company. Most companies are generally good when people have to submit claims, but some companies can be notorious for making claim submission painstaking and some companies take their sweet time to send a claim check to the motorist. Sometimes it is better to bend a little on price, to sacrifice a bit, to get excellent customer service. It's a good idea to check with friends, family, and even online reviews to make sure an insurance company has a reputation of good service...but it's a good idea to take online reviews with a grain of salt. Remember, most people don't take the time to praise good service, but are fast to tear down companies when they have even the slightest problem.
Just remember, it is important to find a happy medium between price and quality, and the old saying "A person gets what they pay for" applies even to car insurance. Finding a quality insurance company with a decent premium can take a bit of shopping around, but in the end, it will definitely be worth the initial hassle.

Car Insurance - The Fun Begins When You Turn 16

By

Once a person turns sixteen years old, there is only one thing he or she wants... and that is to get a car. Because, as everyone knows, owning a car is a person's first step towards freedom and independence. On the other side of that coin, however owning a car is also usually a person's first taste of personal responsibility. Once a person gets their license, and is old enough to drive, they need to look into getting car insurance. Car insurance is necessary for everyone who uses a public road, from a person who's had a driver's license for a day, to a person who's been driving for seventy years.
Why is car insurance important? Well, if a person doesn't have car insurance and they get into an accident, their world can be turned upside down. Since insurance is a legal requirement, a person will lose their license as well as pay a hefty fine. In addition, a person driving without insurance opens themselves up to serious liability in the event that they hurt someone or damage another person's property. A person is liable for all damage done to other people, and without insurance, a person can be sued for damages. If they cannot afford to pay cash for damages, then their property can be confiscated and sold to pay for damages. If a person doesn't have insurance, then any and all of their property is at risk in the event of an accident.
How easy is it to get car insurance? Well, it's honestly very easy. Most insurance companies keep up with technology, and have taken advantage of the internet. Almost all companies can give a person a quote online, and most can even let a person register for a policy online. A lot of insurance companies now will even give a person rate quotes from multiple other companies at the same time as theirs so that the playing field stays level and a person feels like they can trust the insurance company.
Car insurance is a 'necessary evil' and any driver needs to have it...no exceptions. Finding and starting an auto insurance policy is relatively easy, and in this time of unlimited, instant connectivity, an insurance policy can be set up and started in a matter of fifteen minutes using the internet. There is no reason not to have insurance and frankly, not having insurance is like playing with fire.

Why You Need Car Insurance And How It Works

By

Anyone who has ever been involved in an accident or an incident involving a vehicle can verify that having good car insurance is very important. A lot of people wonder why they would ever need insurance...after all, they're perfect drivers. All it takes is one costly incident for a person to change their tune quickly, however. On top of the fact that driving without insurance is illegal, getting into an accident without insurance can be very, very costly. Even a small fender bender can cause thousands of dollars in damage to each vehicle as well as considerable monetary damage to property around the accident scene.
Car insurance protects people from most liability in the event of an accident. There are liability limits, but for the most part, insurance will cover all damages, minus a driver's deductible. These limits are set by the driver when the policy is created, but for the most part, all damage will be covered in the event of an accident. When shopping for insurance, there are different policies a person needs to consider, though. Liability, comprehensive, and collision are the three main types of insurance coverage, and they all play an important part in protecting a driver.
Liability insurance is the only policy required by law. Liability covers any damage done to other people, vehicles, or property by a driver. It doesn't cover damage done to a driver's own car or property, but liability makes sure that no one else has to suffer financial losses due to neglect or carelessness of the insured driver. All states require that any licensed driver who uses a public road to have liability insurance, regardless of any other factors. Liability insurance covers both the property and medical bills of people involved in accidents with the insured driver.
Collision insurance covers damage done to a policyholder's vehicle in an accident. This is not required on all vehicles, but if a vehicle is financed, it is necessary to have collision insurance. Collision insurance covers any damage done to a person's vehicle, regardless of fault. Typically, the driver sets the deductible anywhere from $0 to $1000 depending on his / her financial situation, and this is all that has to be paid in the event of an accident.
Comprehensive insurance is a catch-all that covers any damage / destruction done to a vehicle outside of a wreck. Storm damage / break-ins / flood damage / etc are all covered by a comprehensive policy. This insurance is not required by law, but can come in very handy if something happens outside of an policyholder's control.

Car Accident Claims - How You Can Get Money From Insurance

By

Car insurance is mandatory in most states in the United States, but this isn't the only reason it's important you purchase it. A single accident could result in thousands of dollars in damage, not to mention medical bills and other fines and having adequate car insurance coverage can protect you from having to pay these costs yourself. However, many people find themselves in a predicament where they get into an accident, make a claim, and despite having what they think is adequate insurance coverage, have to pay for the damages themselves. You can take measures to ensure that your car insurance claims are approved. Firstly, you need to understand exactly what your policy includes or bars, right down to the fine print.
1. Liability:
The basic insurance coverage is liability, which covers third party damages; i.e. if you get into an accident where the other party is at fault, you can receive compensation from his/her insurance company under liability. However, to ensure you receive this coverage, you must pay attention to the following details:
a) Before getting behind the wheel ensure that you are listed and permitted to drive the car by law, and will be covered by your insurance policy even if this is not your own car.
b) Get the other party's complete insurance information immediately after the accident.
c) Collect evidence in the form of photographs and witnesses at the accident site without a moment of delay so that there is no dispute that the other party caused the accident.
While liability may be the minimum required by some states, it is advisable to go the extra mile and get collision, comprehensive, Underinsured Motorist (UIM) Coverage and Uninsured Motorist (UM) Coverage in addition, because liability alone will not pay for damages to your own car or self. Also, if the other party is at fault, but does not have insurance, then you will have to take care of the damages on your own unless you have adequate coverage. This is why some states mandate Personal Injury Protection and/or UIM coverage. Underinsured and Uninsured motorists coverage takes care of damages to your automobile that were caused by another un/underinsured party. PIP covers medical injuries, whether or not you are responsible for an accident. For example, minimum requirements for Pennsylvania car insurance include $5000 in PIP coverage.
2. Comprehensive:
Comprehensive insurance comes into play when your car suffers damages due to something other than another car or stationary object, i.e., that which is not included by collision. However, look closely at your insurance policy, because the fine print may have clauses stating that you will not be covered for damages caused by animals, flood or other acts of God. If your car is stolen, you can claim insurance under comprehensive coverage. But again, your company may deny your claim if you didn't report the theft to the police immediately or left the keys in the car briefly. So look out for such clauses on your comprehensive policy before signing the papers.
3. Collision:
Those whose car insurance coverage includes collision can make car accident claims even if they themselves are at fault. Collision also covers damages caused if you drive into an inanimate object such as a pole. However your claim may be denied if an unauthorized person was driving your car at the time of the accident, if there were more people in the car than there were seatbelts, etc. The way to avoid these eventualities is to understand the limitations of your car insurance, and play by the rules.
There are also several other things to keep in mind to ensure that your insurance company approves your car accident claims:
1. Do not withhold information; in the event of an accident, your insurance company may reject your claim if they discover that you lied to them or withheld pertinent information from them at any point of time while you were insured with them. In such a case, you would have paid insurance premiums for nothing.
2. Keep records of claims, receipts, and all paperwork pertaining to your car insurance.
3. Check with your insurers before making modifications to your car and inform them if you decide to make any; often insurance companies charge extra or refuse to insure certain modifications.
4. Find a reliable, reputed auto insurance company rather than going for the cheapest company in the market. You should feel secure in the knowledge that your insurer has the means and integrity to pay out when you file car accident claims.
5. Do not skimp on your car insurance coverage; you will only be able to file a car accident claim if your policy includes and supports the damages incurred.
If you feel that your claim has been wrongfully denied, you have the option of filing a complaint with your State Insurance Commissioner. Make sure you enclose a written copy of the insurance company's denial in your letter to the State Insurance Commissioner and remember that your insurance company is required to provide you with said written proof.
If you neglect to read your policy properly, are dishonest with your insurance provider, or scrimp on your coverage, you suffer the risk of having to take care of the damages on your own, and in the bargain, having paid regular insurance premiums for nothing. But when you buy car insurance, more than anything else, you're paying for peace of mind and the knowledge that you will not lose everything you're worth in the eventuality of an accident.

Do You Really Need Short Term Car Insurance?

By

Short term car insurance is one of those necessary monthly expenses for vehicle owners which can in fact not really be ignored or forsaken. Although we may often question the necessity thereof based upon our impeccable no claim history.
Insurance in general is often given a bad rap because we will often pay and pay and never really see any real benefit from all the premium payments given to the insurance companies, however when the day comes that a claim is instituted and the payout is forthcoming is when we truly realize the benefit of short term car insurance or other types of insurance really.
There are a few important issues when considering short term car insurance that are applicable during the application phase that require mentioning. These include that the applicant must disclose all relevant information in order to ensure comprehensive coverage, as in many countries across the world specific items or situations that are not disclosed within this application phase may result in an insurer declining to pay out a claim at a later stage. Additionally the existence of exclusions on certain policies should also be examined to ensure that you are fully aware of what is covered within the policy and what is not covered - this will allow for complete peace of mind and you will not be faced with any surprises come claim time.
The pricing or premium of the short term car insurance policy or policies will be determined by a number of factors including previous claims, type and extent of coverage of the policy and any optional extras that may be available within the coverage itself. Hence one can elect for a variety of options which have a direct bearing upon the actual payout in the event of a claim. To this end you should consider a number of different scenarios that could occur and the resultant financial impact in the event of a claim, or even without claiming - which will provide the basis of which type of cover is right for you.
Even though you may be contemplating on whether or not to actually get comprehensive or basic short term car insurance, bear in mind that the nature of an insurance claim and the circumstances within which it occurs. Claims are not always as a result of your own cause or even negligence which implies that we have to be prepared for the individual that may cause the accident or occurrence in question, and who may not have insurance. In this event trying to get the money from the individual may take a while and in the meantime you will be sitting without a car or perhaps any transport. Whereas in the case of being insured the claim can be settled, your car repaired or replaced and any claims against the guilty party can be subsequently pursued.
If you are wondering whether or not short term car insurance is necessary or not, the answer is yes to cover you financially in terms of loss of use or damage to your motor vehicle whether anything happens as a result of your actions or that of an external party.

Escalating Costs For Young Drivers - Could They Be A Danger To Us All?

By

The cost of getting a licence and insuring a first car just continues to increase. Currently, a typical course of driving lessons costs around £1200, a provisional driving licence £50, booking the driving theory test £50 and the practical driving test £65 on a weekday and £75 on a Saturday.
You also need to take into account that the average person takes 2.4 attempts before passing. At the same time, insurance premiums for 17-24 year-olds have increased by around 50% in the last year.
The temptation to break the law
Faced with these kinds of expenses, the temptation to drive without a licence or insurance also increases. Not only are drivers who drive without a licence or insurance breaking the law, but the police claim that, statistically, this group is more likely to be involved in accidents - a fact that's not at all surprising, considering that an unlicenced driver is unlikely to have achieved the level of competence required to drive independently on the road.
These drivers are a danger to all road users, and very difficult to make a claim against if they do not have insurance. A young person is very unlikely to have the financial assets to settle any liabilities.
Driving test passes plummet
Recent newspaper reports have driving test pass numbers at little more than half those of a decade or so ago. Back in 1998, 1.1 million people were awarded licences; in 2010, just 517,000 people passed. In 1998 the test was extended to 40 minutes through adding additional manoeuvres.
There is evidence that the complexity and challenges of modern driving test are putting your people off taking it, in addition to the prohibitive cost of driving lessons.
Insurance costs for young drivers
At a time when car insurance costs are increasing across the board, young drivers are facing the highest increases of all. Written evidence to the Parliamentary Transport Committee's investigation into the cost of motor insurance, reported in March 2011, stressed that premiums are based on actuarial statistics (how much are claims likely to be for and how often are they likely to be made?) and historical trends, not biases against new drivers.
A young male driver can be faced with a premium of over £2500 for an average car.
Tackling the problem of uninsured drivers
It is estimated that there are a million uninsured drivers of all ages on Britain's roads. And, according to the Motor Insurers' Bureau, every year 160 people are killed and 23,000 injured by drivers who have no insurance.
This year, the British government introduced a law to enable the DVLA and the insurance industry to compare databases to identify car owners who haven't bought insurance. A letter is sent first to remind the car owner that their vehicle is uninsured and they could face a fine. If they fail to arrange for insurance, they are fined £100, and for subsequent offences, face having their car impounded and destroyed.
Even as the government and Road Policing units around the country warn unlicenced or uninsured drivers that their vehicles could be seized and crushed, the cost of a lost car could be a fraction of the cost of even a year's insurance on that car.
Finding a solution
It is very unlikely that the cost of getting on the road for the first time will decrease significantly, so we need to look for creative solutions and/or increase the penalties for driving unlicensed or uninsured. The danger, of course, is that we will exclude young people from driving entirely, with the social and economic consequences that will have.

Is It Possible To Find Cheap Car Insurance Quotes?

By

Let's face it, car insurance can be expensive, and you may have reached the point where you are tired of paying those high costs. If you like the idea of saving hundreds of dollars each year, you can do it by finding cheap car insurance quotes. Many people don't realize that this is one place where it really pays to take a little time to do the research because you really can find cheap car insurance if you look for it.
It used to be that a person found an insurance agent who had a local office and worked with him for all their insurance needs. Since he handled everything, they never worried about things and simply paid the required premiums. The world has changed, and this tradition is beginning to be broken across the country. With the advent of the internet, more companies have entered the market, and the older, more established companies are working harder to retain their share of the customers who are available. This means that everyone is offering some kind of a package deal or low premium that the old-school hometown insurance agent simply can't compete against. Unless he has modernized, he will soon go the way of the dinosaur.
Some of the differences between the old breed of insurance agents and the new ones are that a local agent often has a high overhead, as he pays for office space and secretarial help, while the new breed of insurance salesmen often work out of their homes with a computer being their main overhead cost. These new salesmen still often work for the big name companies, just in a little different way. The point is that if the costs of doing business are higher, those costs are usually passed on to the customer.
Finding cheap car insurance is one way to keep your money in hand. You can easily search online for the best insurance quotes available. You must be prepared to enter certain information in each website so that you can get an accurate quote. Obviously, they will need the make and model and year of your car, but they will also need the state that you live in and the ages of the drivers of the car. Different websites may require additional information. There are some sites that allow you to simply enter your information one time and you will receive quotes from a variety of companies.
It is a good idea to input the type of coverage you currently have so that you can better compare the different quotes to your current policy. You may even find that your current policy premium is relatively low. It is great to be able to do all of this on your own time from your home computer. As you look at the comparisons, you will be able to decide whether you should switch now or wait and check in a few months. It is estimated that if people would look into switching their car insurance every year or so, they might be able to save quite a bit of money on their insurance premium because you really can find cheap car insurance quotes if you look for them.

Special Insurance Needed For Classic Cars

By

If you have an older car that may be a classic or an antique automobile, you may not have thought about the need for special car insurance. This is particularly important if you are thinking about buying this type of car. First of all, you need to be sure that it meets the definition of a classic or antique car.
According to the Classic Car Club of America, automobiles built between the years of 1925 and 1948 can be deemed classic if they also meet other criteria, such as make and model. Antiques are automobiles that were built prior to the First World War, or before the year 1916. If you own such a rare car, then you are sure to want to insure it properly. Remember to check with a professional so that you are not paying more for insurance than you should be by trying to insure an old car as though it were a true classic.
It is important to discuss all of your options carefully with your insurance agent so that you will know that you have proper coverage. Most likely you will get a limited mileage policy. This limits the number of miles that can be put on the car during each year, but since your classic automobile is only out of the garage occasionally for those special occasions, this should not present any problems. However, if you feel you need a policy with more than 5000 miles, some car insurance companies will have policies with special provisions.
As you work with your insurance agent to set up your policy, you will want to be sure that you agree on the actual value of the car that the policy will cover. You want the cost of replacing or repairing the car to be covered by the insurance policy in the event that something catastrophic occurs. With these types of automobiles it is also quite common that the value may continue to rise year after year, so you should do a yearly evaluation to make sure that the policy coverage is raised as the value of the automobile increases.
If you are looking for cheap car insurance for your classic car, then you will want to do some things that can help to help lower your rates, such as driving all of your other cars safely so that you are accident free. Some insurance companies will offer a lower rate if you are a member of a classic auto club. Sometimes these clubs will have helpful information on companies that offer insurance for specialty cars. It is also a good idea to shop around for the best deal, since rates will vary from one company to the next. Doing a little research on the internet can help you make price comparisons.
Owning a unique car can definitely bring you pleasure and it may also act as a sort of status symbol as well. Whatever your reason for owning this type of car, it is important that you insure it properly against any kind of damage or loss. Don't just go with cheap insurance, make sure that you are fully covered, since that is really the point of getting insurance in the first place.

Finding Good, Cheap Car Insurance For Young Drivers

By

Rearing children is an expensive proposition, from the original hospital bills, to the cost of diapers, to the costs of sports and dance classes; you know it is going to cost money. This is why you want to be prepared for the higher cost of placing your teenager on your car insurance. You will definitely want to have your teen insured so that they can properly learn how do drive a car, so here are some thoughts on finding cheap car insurance for your young drivers.
There are several reasons why it is more expensive to insure a young driver. Because they have a limited amount of experience driving, insurance companies charge you more for the risk they are taking on your child. Statistics show that drivers under the age of 24 are involved in a higher percentage of accidents than older drivers. Because insurance company's policies are designed around the amount of risk they are willing to take, they will charge you more for a young driver because the risk is high. At the same time, an older driver with an excellent driving record is a much lower risk and will be charged less for his car insurance.
Just because the premium for your teenager's car insurance is going to be higher than the amount you pay for yourself, it doesn't mean that you can't find cheap car insurance for your son or daughter. Of course, you will want to check with your current carrier first. Sometimes if you have an excellent record, your low rates can figure in to what you will be charged for to add your child to your policy. However, even if that is what will happen, it is a good idea to do some research and to shop around for the best deal you can find.
Looking on the internet is a great way to make auto insurance comparisons. If you search for cheap auto insurance for young drivers, you may be able to find quite a few sites where you can submit some basic information and receive a quote. Remember, it may be less expensive for you to put your teenager on a separate plan, but more often than not, it may end up being more cost effective for you to switch all of your car insurance policies to a new carrier. Be sure to enter the required information such as make and model of vehicle as well as the type of coverage you want. In order to compare rates with your current insurance company's rates, you need to use the same numbers and types of coverage for an accurate comparison. Of course, if you decide to change the type of coverage you have later, that is totally up to you.
As you look at cheap car insurance, remember that you want to have enough insurance to provide adequate coverage in the case of an accident. Don't fall into the trap of getting inadequate insurance coverage just because it doesn't cost as much. Although it may cost more than you want it too, it is still possible to find low-cost auto insurance for your young drivers if you take the time to do some research and to make some comparisons between different companies.

Factors Involved in Auto Insurance Quotes

By

Many teens are ready to embark on a new adventure in the driving world and often times ill-prepared on the many details associated with car insurance coverages. If they are ready to purchase a new car, they must seek out car insurance companies, coverages, and payments available. They must also know what factors are involved in accurately receiving an auto insurance quote. Those factors consist of the following:
1. What kind of car you drive
Often times, if you are buying a car you will need to go over the details such as make, model and year with your auto insurance carrier. In doing so, they can provide the most thorough information possible regarding price. Typically speaking, the more the car costs, the more you will pay on your premium. This is due to the fact the newer cars have a high value and higher price points on parts then older cars. New cars also are equipped with more technology, which can cost more in the long run if needing replaced.
2. Where you drive
There are much higher rates of vandalism, theft, and accidents for urban drivers who will pay more for auto insurance than drivers in smaller towns.
3. How much you drive
Depending on where you are located from your work, or if your automobile is used for business purposes and long trips, long-distance drives will usually the insurer more.
4. Your age, sex and marital status
Statistically, those under age 25 and young males who are single will usually pay more upfront for their premium.
5. Your driving record
Accident-free drivers will benefit from this area because auto insurance companies pay close attention to your driving record. If you have a poor driving record and cause accidents, you must pay more than those people who are accident-free. Costs will remain higher for several years.
6. Your credit history
A driver's credit history is often a good source of future auto insurance losses from the insurance company. Many companies consider certain credit aspects as well as many other factors when determining an individual's auto insurance rate.
Keep in mind that deductibles and discounts can also affect the amount you pay towards your premium car insurance. The more you pay for your deductible, the less you pay towards your auto insurance bill. Having a multi-policy where you insure your car and home under one insurance carrier and having multi-car where you are responsible for having two or more vehicles under the same carrier will help decrease your expenses.

Car Insurance Options In Addition to Requirements

By

If you have ever owned a car and had some type of car insurance, then you probably understand at least a little about the basic kinds of insurance that are required. For instance, liability coverage for damage to vehicles and liability coverage for bodily injury are generally required by law. If you got a loan from a bank or other financial institution in order to purchase the car, then you also were required to have a certain amount of collision and comprehensive insurance as well. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage is required by some states in case of inadequate amounts of insurance to help cover those who are injured. However, you may not have known about some of the other options that are available through your auto insurance company.
One important type of coverage that many people include with their regular auto policy is Work Loss, because it helps to cover the cost of lost wages in the case that your injury from the accident are directly related to your inability to work. Without this type of insurance, you may be out of the wages from the job while you are incurring large medical bills, which is not a very good situation to be in.
Loan/Lease Gap insurance is a type of coverage you can add to your car insurance policy if you have a loan on the vehicle and also have both comprehensive and collision insurance with a deductible. This will cover the difference between what you still owe on the car and the value of the car at the time of the accident.
You might also consider Medical Payments coverage, which takes care of medical expenses not only for yourself but for all of the passengers in your vehicle who may be injured in an accident. This is sometimes called no-fault insurance because it doesn't matter who is at fault; you are all still covered. This type of coverage may even extend to you if you and your family are in someone else's car or happen to be a pedestrian who is injured by an automobile. This type of coverage can be flexible and can be particularly helpful if you do not have a medical insurance plan that covers expenses of this nature. PIP or Personal Injury Protection is also designed to work this same way.
If you have a souped-up stereo system, mag wheels, or other specialty equipment for your car, you may want to think about having those items separately insured. If you have a classic car that you want to add to the policy, it will also need special classic car insurance.
You can even get car insurance coverage that covers the cost of a rental car while your automobile is in the shop getting repaired. In addition to this you could get a package that includes roadside assistance such as towing and labor to haul your wrecked vehicle to the repair shop of your choice from that accident scene.
There are many extra options that can help you insure the things that are important to you, and it can be very helpful to have some of these options added to your policy in addition to the required insurance coverages.

How To Go About Finding Cheap Car Insurance For Young Drivers

By

When a person gets ready to begin driving, one of the first things he or she must think about is car insurance. You may have been told that it will be very expensive to get car insurance if you are a first time driver, and while it is true that it will be more expensive for you than it will be for a more experienced driver, you can still find cheap car insurance for first time drivers.
If you look at it from the insurance company's point of view, you can understand that they feel like first time drivers are a bigger risk than those who have driven for years, and will charge accordingly. They must protect themselves against the statistics that show that first time drivers are involved in a higher percentage of accidents than those with more experience on the road.
However, there are some things you can do to find cheap car insurance no matter how much experience you have driving. Before you begin, you will need some basic information, such as the make, model, and year of the car you are planning to drive. You may not realize it, but fancier or racier cars often cost you more in insurance than standard cars do. Also, if a car is high on the list for those that get stolen most frequently, they will have higher insurance costs as well. Cars that are newer cost more for replacement, so their insurance costs will be higher than cars that are older. If you have a couple of different cars you could choose from, you should get quotes on both of them so that you will know which will have a lower insurance cost.
Next, you will need to understand a little about the different kinds of insurance you must carry as opposed to optional types of coverage. For instance, everyone must have liability insurance, but you are not required to carry comprehensive and collision insurance unless you got a loan from a bank to buy the car you are planning to drive and insure. For cheaper auto insurance, you will want to buy a car without having to take out a loan if at all possible.
There are certain discounts that are available for even new drivers, such as a good student discount or a multi-car discount. Be sure to ask about the available discounts when you talk to an insurance agent. One of the quickest ways to lower your insurance costs is to raise your deductible. The deductible is the amount you must pay before the insurance pays their part after an accident occurs. For instance, if your deductible is only $200, then your premiums will be much higher than if your deductible is $500. Be sure your budget can handle the deductible before deciding what it should be.
Once you have all of this information ready, then you will need to shop around for cheap car insurance. Using the internet is a great way to get quotes from a number of different companies so that you can make comparisons that will help you make a good decision on which one will give you the best price for the most insurance.

How You Can Get Discounts on Car Insurance

By

Car insurance premiums can be pretty expensive, and you may be ready for a change. If you are ready to shop around for a new rate, then you may also be wondering how you can get discounts on car insurance. Here are some ideas on things you can do to get a lower rate.
The first step is to plan to spend some serious time doing online research. The more you are willing to shop around, the more likely you will find car insurance that has been discounted. With the number of insurance companies who are vying for their share of the market, the companies must be competitive and many offer special discounts and low rates, you just have to spend the time to find them. Some websites will help by making comparisons for you, which can really speed up the process.
As you begin quote shopping, you need to be armed with enough information for the companies to provide accurate estimates for you. Although many websites don't require personal information, they still need enough information to work from. This will include your age, location, marital status, number of annual miles you put on the vehicle, make, model, and year of the vehicle, and so forth. The less information you provide, the less likely the company will be able to quote discounts. If you have special anti-theft or safety features on your car, for instance, you may qualify for additional discounts, but if you don't let the company know, they won't quote you that discounted price.
If your driving methods have changed or will be changing soon because you just joined the van-pool to work or you are now working closer to home, you may be eligible for low mileage discounts. In addition, if you have taken certain defensive driving courses, these may qualify you for additional discounts.
Look at which family member is insured as the main driver on each vehicle. If you want cheap car insurance, play around with this feature on one of the websites you are looking at. Plug the husband in as the main driver on the truck with the wife on the sedan, and then switch main drivers to see if it makes a difference - often it will. Always insure your teenage drivers on the oldest, least valuable car that you own.
Another way to get discounts on car insurance is to adjust the deductible you are willing to pay if an accident were to happen. If you have a low deductible, then you are more likely to have a higher premium, and the reverse is also true. If you have a higher deductible, then your premium will be lower. You will have to decide what is most cost effective for you. Just remember to have money set aside or enough liquid assets that can be quickly converted to cash in the amount of the deductible in case an accident really does happen.
By looking for all of the available discounts, and asking about others you may not even know about, you will be able to find cheap car insurance that provides you all of the coverage you and your family need.

Important Points To Look For In A Quality Car Insurance Company

By

Car insurance is something that everyone must have, and cheap car insurance is something that everyone needs. However, we should not choose a company simply because it is cheap at the risk of losing quality. By carefully selecting your company and making sure that the standard deductible is not too high, comparing accessibility, and checking the payout record, you will be able to find cheap car insurance from a high quality company.
As you may know, most auto insurance companies utilize a standard deductible as part of their overall coverage packages. $500 is often a starting place for a deductible, although it can vary depending on the company. The deductible is the one area of the quote that you can increase or decrease based on your needs. If you don't have a lot of liquid assets, you may want a lower deductible because you don't think you will be able to come up with the whole amount in the case of an accident. If you want a lower insurance premium, you can increase the amount of the deductible. However, some companies begin with a very high deductible, so you need to watch out for this. It doesn't give you much room to negotiate and it may mean that the insurance is more costly than other insurance quotes that have everything else the same but a lower standard deductible.
If you have ever waited on the phone for an hour for your call to get through to the phone or cable company, you understand how helpful it can be for a company to have easy accessibility. You want to be able to contact the company whenever you need to and you deserve to have your questions answered quickly and accurately. One of the ways to help you determine how accessible a car insurance company is might be to visit their website and either click on the online chat option or send an email with a question to them. You will then see if their online chat person is helpful or whether they answer your email within one or two business days. Quick responses now help you feel like they would get back with you quickly in the case of an accident.
This brings us to the payout record. What we are talking about here is whether it is easy or difficult to get the company to pay for repairs or injury in the case of an accident. Most companies are very reputable and try to keep their customers happy. However, there are those few bad apples who seem to be doing all they can to keep from having to pay anything, sort of like the insurance guy on the movie "The Incredibles." You could check the Better Business Bureau or other consumer agencies to see if there are any complaints against the company. There may even be online reviews comparing the payout records of different companies. If the company you are looking at has great rates for car insurance, have reasonable deductibles, are very accessible and have a good payout record, then you have found an insurance company you can rely on and can move forward with them.

Five Tips For Finding Cheap Car Insurance

By

If you think you may be paying too much for car insurance, you are probably right. You can look online for car insurance quotes, but might wonder how to find the best rates. Following, you will find five great tips for finding cheap car insurance.
First, it is important when you are shopping around to provide enough information so that you can get the most accurate quotes. Some of these include the make and model of the car, your marital status, zip code, special safety features your car might have, how many miles you drive each year and your current coverage rates. By providing lots of details, you can get more accurate quotes and will be able to make better comparisons.
Next, it is very important to look at more than just a handful of companies. By truly shopping around, you will have a much better chance of finding cheap car insurance. Some companies may charge as much as 2 or 3 times the rates other companies are charging for the same insurance package, so don't be content with just a couple of quotes. Don't forget that your current company may be offering incentives to new customers, and even though you are a current customer, you may be able to negotiate those same low rates if you threaten to switch to another company.
Third, consider the amount of deductible you have agreed to pay in the case of an accident, and then determine if you could afford to raise it a bit. This is the quickest way to lower an auto insurance premium. For instance your premium could actually drop over a hundred dollars by raising the amount of your deductible. That difference in the premium could easily pay for itself in a year or two. Just remember, if you raise the deductible, you will need to have liquid assets or reserves available to make that payment in case an accident does happen and you are required to pay that amount.
Next, have you ever considered adjusting the names of who the main driver is on each of your vehicles? You may find that if the wife is insured on the truck or SUV, and the husband on the sedan, your rates will go down. It is also important that if you have young drivers that you keep them insured on the older, less valuable vehicles. Don't forget to ask about discounts for your young drivers for being good students and find out if there are any other discounts available.
Fifth, look at your current driving habits and see if they have changed since the last time you talked with your insurance agent about your rates. If you have had a job change and now work closer to home or if you have started riding in the vanpool to work, you may be using quite a few less miles each year and could switch to a policy that limits the mileage you can use, but also lowers your rates.
By remembering these five tips as you start looking for cheap car insurance, you may be able to find just what you are looking for and can save hundreds on your insurance premiums each year.

Why You Need Teenage Car Insurance

By

Today, cars have become one of the primary needs in life, even for teenagers. There are lots of teenagers out there that go to school by car. Unfortunately, due to their lack of maturity, teenagers tend to get involved in car crashes that often lead to death. That said, if you have a teenage child, you may now hesitate to let him drive a car on his own. However, as a matter of fact, this is not the right solution. What you should do instead is to consider signing up your teenage child with a teenage car or motor insurance policy.
It is true that with such a protection, there'll be costs you'll have to pay. It is also true that the costs may turn out to be quite high. However, if this is what you are thinking, imagine your beloved teenage child crashing the car while he is driving it. The costs you'll have to pay then will be higher compared to if your child is insured in a car insurance policy. Besides, there are quite a few things you can do to lower the costs for the policy.
First, you can find information regarding the teenage car insurance policies offered by various companies and compare their quotes. Try to figure out the deal that you think fit you and your pocket best. Then, the next thing you can do is to provide necessary information to your teenage child regarding how they can help reduce the costs for their car insurance policy.
To start it off, having a clean driving record - meaning they have never got involved in any car crashes - will often make a teenager eligible for discounts in getting themselves protected. In addition to that, there are not few companies out there that will be more than happy to give discounts to teenagers that manage to earn a GPA of 3.0. Taking part in driving safety classes will often qualify your teenage child for insurance discounts as well.
The next thing you can do is to recommend a considerably slow or safe car to your teenage child. Insurance companies usually consider this kind of cars to be quite far from car crashes. Therefore, it is better for your teenage child to choose such a car as a Honda Civic rather than a Ferrari as the latter will significantly increase the costs of the teenage car insurance. To insurance companies, a sports or fast car has a pretty high tendency to get involved in a car crash.
Adding safety equipments on to a car can also reduce the costs you'll have to pay for the teenage car insurance policy. Seatbelts, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, front and side curtain airbags, and traction control are just a few of the safety equipments to name.
Last but not least, your teenage child will also be eligible for discounts in their protection if he takes part in a particular social organization such as Eagle Scouts. Most insurance companies are willing to charge lower teenage rates to teenagers that help make the community better.

Pros and Cons of Paying Car Insurance Monthly

By

Car insurance, also known as motor insurance, is crucial if you own a car. Without such protection, you will experience huge losses in case something bad - a car crash, for example - takes place. However, when it comes to such protection, you may often be bothered by the costs you may have to pay to keep you protected. Fortunately, insurance companies usually allow you to choose whether you want to pay in advance or monthly with the latter being chosen most of the time. Yet, before making up your mind, it is a wise thing to consider the pros and cons of paying car insurance monthly.
Budget Management
With monthly payment, the sum of money you have to take out of your pockets each month is lower than the sum of money you have to spend by paying in advance. For most people today, especially due to the recent global economic recession, monthly payment is their best bet. A monthly payment enables them to manage their budgets more easily. After paying their bills, they can use the remaining money for investments, entertainment and other stuffs. Also, with monthly payment, you know how much money you are expected to spend each month.
Unfortunately, though, monthly payment will cause you to have to manage more paperwork. You will have to file your monthly bank statement for your future reference. In addition to that, you may have to write a monthly check as well.
Nevertheless, if you want to spare all the paperwork difficulties, you can leave your insurance company to draft your car insurance costs directly from your bank account. Of course, do this only if you really trust your insurance company. You can also set the payment schedule as well.
Liquidity
If you have limited funds, you can usually hold your money for a definite time period. This is possible thanks to the valuable liquidity provided by most of today's motor insurance agents.
Fees
If you choose to pay your car insurance monthly, the company you sign up with will charge you with higher fees than if you choose to pay in advance. The fees become higher because there is a small fee charged every month. Normally, the monthly fee ranges from one to a few dollars. However, over time, the monthly fees may accumulate up to fifty dollars or more.
Flexibility
There are not few car owners out there that do not realize the possibility of turning to another  company thanks to the monthly payment. This is very important considering that most insurance companies will always try to offer low premiums at times. So, if you pay your car insurance monthly, you have the option to turn to another company and pay less for the equal protection coverage.
This is something you can't do with upfront payment. Yes, your insurer will give you a balance with a pro rating if you make an upfront payment. However, the thing is that you will have to wait for your check that may be needed to pay another insurer. Unfortunately, the check can usually take about 2 weeks.
